Yadkin County, North Carolina is situated in the north central rolling foothills of the state.  The lovely Blue Ridge Mountains rise in the distance and look down over the Yadkin Valley.  Founded in 1850, Yadkin has traditionally been a farming region, raising grains, corn, tobacco as well as livestock and poultry.  Today, vineyards and specialty horticultural nurseries have discovered the gentle climate and rich soil of Yadkin County.  The annual Yadkin Valley Wine Festival has been held for three years now and has been proven to be an outstanding event.

The population of Yadkin County was 37,587 in the 2002 census.  The presence of Interstate 77 on the county's eastern section, and U.S. 421, which leads to Winston-Salem, holds the promise for future growth.  Manufacturing and industry are slowly moving into the area.  The top five manufacturers are Unifi, Phillips-Van Heusen, Lydall Thermal Acoustic Inc, Austin Company and the Indera Mills Company. Unemployment is at a low  3.3% and the median family income is just over $53,000 per year.

The 336 square miles of Yadkin County are graced with the lovely Yadkin River as its eastern and northern boundaries.  Numerous hiking trails run along the river and it is known for its great trout fishing.

The major towns in Yadkin County, NC are the county seat of Yadkinville, Boonville, Jonesville and East Bend. Yadkinville is only 45 minutes from the Piedmont Triangle Airport in Greensboro and 75 minutes from Charlotte's International Airport.

Yadkinville is home to the Yadkinville Arts Council which hosts a Summer Concert Series  and Community Theater, as well as the annual Bluegrass Contest and Fiddler's Convention.  The Harvest Festival in September brings together musicians and artists from all over the region.
